Season Recap

We are in the final countdown here at the farm. Make sure you come out and see us before we close!
Why do we close on Labor Day?
Let me count the reasons:

The tomato season is winding down. There are plenty right now, but the production is really dropping off fast. If you want to get some for canning, now is the time.

The peach season is winding down. One more variety to go. We hope they last through Labor Day, but it’s a close call. There are plenty right now, make sure you get your canning and freezing done soon.

Cantaloupes have been delicious this year. There’s no telling how much longer on those. Cantaloupes have a mind of their own and quit whenever they feel like it.

Sweet corn is NOT the reason we close Labor Day. There is plenty of that to last most of September. So just keep eating! Procrastinate if you choose. It’s fine.

The vast majority of our wonderful team goes back to school and Ashley and I are just too exhausted to carry on alone.

The weather changes. Fall is great for football games, but it’s kind of lonely sitting out here with the chilly mornings and windy days after the summer harvest is done.

Speaking of football games – we will probably head out to see the Homecoming game at Colorado State. Anyone else?
Some Highlights from the Season
First day of sweet corn harvest.
This was our first year growing sunflowers. It was SO MUCH FUN! I just couldn’t stop taking pictures, cutting bouquets, and walking through the field. It was magical. We will do it again next year. I hope you were able to enjoy them and get some good photos with those you love too.
Speaking of firsts… We designed a photo-op board and put it on the front porch. If you see it, take a quick snap. Just ask us, we can press the shutter button for ya.
The Blueberry Boogie was the first 5K we have ever hosted. It was a blast! We will definitely do it again next year. Mark your calendar, June 18th, 2022. Hope to see you here!
We loaded up on “Godfrey Gear” this year. There’s still a lot of really cool stuff. They make great Christmas gifts!
Bluegrass in the Blueberry Patch is one of my favorite days of the year. But as you read above, there is a lot of competition now. This year was our 6th year, and yeah, we will do this one again.
Of course, the biggest event of our season is the Sudlersville Peach Festival that we host with the Volunteer Fire Company. What a beautiful day it was. Every year I think we get a little smoother and have a little more fun.
Then of course there is the one of Jane holding a butcher knife, while Grandma coaches flower arranging on Peach Fest morning.
We have made so many great memories here. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to live this unbelievably wonderful life. I hope you and your family have had a few good times in our fields and on the front porch too. Happy fall and Merry Christmas!
Hope to see you soon!
